What’s New in Windows 7

Microsoft Bangladesh launched a competition for the students called What’s New in Windows 7. General students from different universities took part in the competition. The intensions were to make users aware of the new features of Windows 7.

Students from different universities took part in the contest. The best part was maximum interested participants were non-technical students. AIUB university proudly hosted the grand finale event on 21 October 2010.

In the presentations, many of the features were not much highlighted by Microsoft for Marketing purpose. Features like Virtual Folders, Branchcache, Bitlocker, Bitlocker to go, Homegroup, Play To etc.

It was amazing that the non technical students went through that far and discovers all those features for their presentation.

There were 18 finalists and all of them did mind blowing performance. It was very tough to select only one of them. Finally Shahriar Rahman from AIUB university won the Dhaka – Singapore – Dhaka air return ticket prize.

All participants got participation certification from Microsoft Bangladesh. Mr. Uzair Khan Panni, Program Manager, Microsoft Bangladesh thanked all the students for their efforts.

Mr. Omi Azad, Developer Evangelist, Microsoft Bangladesh finally handed over the grand prize to Shahriar Rahman, EEE, AIUB and thanked everyone for their efforts.

Mr. Omi Azad also encouraged all the audience to participate in all the future contests and events by Microsoft.

Building Tech Careers

In association with CSE department, Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET), the phpXperts group organized a workshop entitled Building Tech Careers. on 02 October 2010 at DUET Auditorium.

Targeted audience of the workshop were

  • IT Professionals – who are already working as a developer.
  • Recent graduates – Who are graduate and seeking for a good IT career as a developer.
  • Tech Students – Who wants to see themselves as a developer in future days.
  • Faculties – Who can update themselves with latest development trends and focus projects/assignments based on that.

    Comment: This topic was too technical and long. The audience were not ready for a technical session at that stage.

    Comment: Arild really knows how to have success in career and his guidance will obviously help the audiences.

    Comment: Very basic, very interesting and very informative.

    Comment: Freelancing became a passion for the tech savvies these days. They can invest less time and make more money, which good for the developers and the country’s economy. Anis selected a very HOT topic and audience should appreciate the guidelines he gave on his speech.

    Comment: Most of the time audience do not understand Hasan’s high thought speeches. But this time he came with an exception. Hasan rocked this time.

    Comment: Another simple but informative topic. The QA session continued for a while as the audience were eager to know the prospect of PHP development.

    Comment: Not many speakers in Bangladesh selected this topic before. As a software developer this is a very important part for the industry. Hasin rocked the session as he did not focus on any technical issues but he really spoke the audience’s language. The QA session went well too.
